Tulum, MX

Tulum has been on my bucket list forever! Mexico vacation but in the jungle!
Living in San Diego we are lucky enough to live close enough to Mexico to take the CBX bridge which connects the USA to MX and we fly out of Tijuana (so makes it “domestic”) Cheaper flights too! Flying to Tulum isn’t so simple as there’s no airport so you’ll be flying into Cancun and taking an hour long ride to Tulum. Highly recommend our driver’s company who had nice, comfortable, clean cars. Were on time and the driver was always helpful and not too pricey.

Hotel: We stayed at The Conrad Rivera Maya Tulum. The hotel was stunning! By far nicest we’ve stayed in. Even the lobby was breath taking. The only reason I won’t be going back was because it was not an all inclusive, making the stay pretty pricey. The hotel had 4 amazing restaurants: hibachi grill style, Japanese style, Mediterranean, and a steak house. We found things we loved at each one. Getting around the hotel was fun, they had golf carts that picked you up at each “Casa” you do have to call ahead before coming down for them to pick you up. There’s also beautiful paths you can take through the jungle to access the pools lobby etc. Walk at your own risk since wild life is very much present at this resort! In fact during our stay we saw so many iguanas that roam the grounds freely we lost count. Opened our hotel door to see a raccoon type animal enjoying someones room service left overs and even heard during our stay they caught a 5 foot boa constrictor!! They offered many relaxing vanishing edge pools, beach access and yummy drinks. I wouldn’t say the service would go above and beyond at either the pool or the beach but that typically comes with an all inclusive stay. The spa was definitely a must visit with the different amenities such as the steam, hot sauna, cold plunge and warm pool. The main spa will with fun water features you and your friends or husband can enjoy together. The massages, we did a couples was one of the best we’ve ever had and so relaxing! We all in all were very pleased with the beautiful hotel!

What we did:
The excursions are a must in Tulum to experience the beautiful jungle tucked city. We took one where we were able to see the ruins not to be confused with the pyramid you can also take an hour bus ride to visit. They were breath taking and learning about the Mayans was really amazing! We then we to the 4 of MANY Cenotes! Fresh water pools that are al over Tulum! Highly recommend taking a tour through them as you get to see through the caves and learn more about our amazing planet and these natural fresh water mineral pools! So many gorgeous places to take photos and jump rocks! There were other excursions we didn’t get a chance to do but definitely want to when we go back like swimming with sea turtles, catamaran cruises, jet skiing, seeing the many more ruins of Tulum!

What to bring:
As any resort in Mexico things I packed: flats, pool cover ups and bathing suits are a must + don’t forget your sunscreen as the sun is a bit stronger there. Nice resort style dresses and wedges for dinners at night, and comfortable walking shoes for the hikes and ruins. Water shoes of some kind for the cenotes with the rocky slippy bottom.
